What you get is always a little under par for what you pay for
This list includes several Fogs because theyre efficient means of preventing all combat damage, but we also have cards that grant protection, which prevents damage from specific sources, and cards that grant indestructible to your creatures, which doesnt prevent the damage but makes it irrelevant

That Wizards of the Coast has upheld the list in its current form for over 10 years, and before that for almost another 20, puts a lot of stock in it being something it must keep going
Reprints are always in hot demand, especially now theres seemingly no room on the release calendar for a Masters set
Tezzeret, Cruel Captain Id be remiss if I didnt talk about Tezzeret, although in all honesty it never really did that much for me, although my cube doesnt have fast mana (which is likely part, but not all of the reason why.) The reason was that it mainly played as an expensive tutor that got a cheap artifact and didnt do much else, since his + ability usually was just used to keep him alive
